2012 USMS Convention Delegates Report
Annually, South Texas LMSC sends delegates to the United States Aquatic Sports (USAS) convention, at which all of the Aquatic Sports governing bodies meet, including Masters, Diving, Synchronized Swimming and Water Polo. There were over 200 USMS delegates at the convention. STLMSC sent 5 voting delegates to the convention this year. This year was considered a rules year, which means most of the activity relates to changes in the rules of swimming (like suits, meet conduct, stroke and turns, etc.). I would like to thank all of the STLMSC delegates who attended convention and for the work they did over the 3 days of meetings. The delegates were Ed Coates, Tyler Blessing, Susan Ingraham, Steve Unruh, and Brian Albright.

Masters Coaches Certification
We are pleased to share that the USMS Coaches Committee and Club Development have updated Level 1 and Level 2 Masters Coaches certification. Any coach who achieved Masters coaches certification prior to December 31, 2010 and is a 2011 USMS registered member and 2011 ASCA registered member will continue to have his/her Masters coaching certification recognized. These certified coaches though are invited to participate in the improved Level 1 and Level 2 Masters certification courses to earn credit for continuing coaching education with ASCA. ASCA remains our partner in administering Masters coaches certification.
The new Level 1 and Level 2 Masters coaches certification was recently taught in the Virginia LMSC. Thirty-one (31) coaches attended earning their certification. The feedback from the Virginia LMSC leadership was overwhelmingly positive and supportive for the Masters certification program.
